My nan still says this rhyme when she sees magpies.
One for sorrow,
Two for joy,
Three for a girl,
Four for a boy,
Five for silver,
Six for gold,
Seven for a secret never to be told.
Hello GemmaIve heard this rhyme before from my Grannie. Lovely to be reminded of it x
Thank you!
Hiya Gemma, your Nan is a wealth of knowledge - I love hearing these old rhymes, thank you so much! Joy x
Thank you, Joy! I was hoping to put a rhyme up a week but my nan couldn't remember any more. I will have to ask her if she can remember any more now.
I still say it too (in my head!) - I remember it from the 70s TV show for kids:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R37LYpB4fb0
Like Judith, ever since the Magpie children's' TV programme I think it through every time I see Magpies.
